I am extremely grateful to Michelle for the opportunity to teach at the Yoga House this Fall. It is wonderful to be involved with a studio that supports my teaching ashtanga, true to form.
About me:
The ashtanga system contains a universe of wisdom, contentment and health, available to me if I am willing to surrender my “I”. And so I have learned that the quality of my practice is equal to my concentration and contemplation on the coordination of bandhas, breath, and drishti as indicated by Sri K. Pattabhi. Jois. The fact that “I” interfere with these simple, proven instructions (with “mind-stuff)” may be a burden, but it is also what motivates me to practice
My teaching embraces the variability in people, practice, and life. I emphasize the meditative aspects of Ashtanga -- as part of the Yoga Sutras and in its authentic form – and support each student to discover a healing, dynamic, consistent practice.
I have trained with Manju Jois, Doug Swenson, Giandev McCord, Christopher Ken Baxter, Ananda Sanghi, and attended workshops in Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Global Somatics, and Gentle yoga.
My teaching experience includes Yojo, One Yoga, the Yoga Center of Minneapolis, and now, exclusively at the Yoga House. I also teach philosophy to ex-convicts at Correctional Transition Service.
Thanks to the instructors and students for helping shape me into the person I am today.
Namaste
Chris Balser
